/ironical meditations series/
I once read an amazing idea that modern human would seem to the ancients (for example, the Greeks or Romans) to be an alien creature not at all because of modern technologies, if one managed to somehow demonstrate them, but because of the differences in one’s own vision of the world, differences in worldview, to such a radical degree.
That is, the very matrix of ideas about the world of modern human differs from the matrix of ideas of the ancients to such an extent that it is as if we are from another planet.
The idea seems to have been expressed in the preface to the remains of heritage of Heraclitus, and served to reinforce the importance of taking into account the context. That is, it is important, when reading a book, to realize who it was written, at what time, in order to accurately understand it. Ignorance of such things can lead to strong distortions in understanding and omissions.
The trick, however, is that even today almost every person is a kind of alien. One just doesn’t realize this and rushes ahead as if one’s point of view is the only correct one, and others are wrong.
If you look at this big picture around for a while, you will believe that we live either in hell or in purgatory. And until we learn to understand certain things, we will not move anywhere from here, despite all the technologies.
To paraphrase the well-known black humor, you can take a person out of the Stone Age, but you cannot take the Stone Age out of a person.
And the housing problem never sleeps - it spoils a human, oh, it spoils the one.
That's how we live. This is “eternal youth”.
Do you think it would be interesting to make explicit the values of the civilization of the ancient Greeks and compare them with the values of modern times? Something tells me: something bad happened to the values of the ancient Greeks. Are these values no longer in circulation among the masses? Has someone tried to hide these values from the masses? In my opinion, the very interesting questions!
I also noticed that corporations proclaim their values. And no matter what corporation you take, each has its own values. Doesn't anything bother you about this? Do you understand why is it the way it is? And what happened to universal human values?
Will you, like this, right off the bat, from within yourself, without looking anywhere, sketch out a list of universal human values? It would be extremely interesting to look at such an experiment if it took place. However, it seems that such an experiment is in full swing in real time with each of us, doesn’t it?

Sensus Miner- Thanks for sharing this. I particularly love this part: "the differences in one’s own vision of the world." I'll definitely be thinking about this for some time. Hope you're well this week. Cheers, -Thalia
